Dear Parents and Families,
Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:
• Set the example. Let children see you read.
• Have a collection of books in your home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills.
• Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read.
Follett has been supporting schools for more than 140 years which means you can expect an awesome selection of titles, from a wide range of publishers. These are the books your children want to read.
Visit follettgift.com to purchase a Follett gift card for your child.
Book Fair dates: May 3-7th (Preview Day April 30th.)
Shopping hours: Volunteers will fill the students’ orders throughout the school day (Please send money and book titles in an envelope marked with the student’s name and teacher.) Parents will not be able to get their child out of class to shop.
Parent Nights: Student with the last name starting with A-L may come Tue, May 4th form 4-6pm.
Students with the last name starting with M-Z may come Thur, May 6th from 4-6pm.
To make things simpler for staff and parents, we are rounding all purchases up to the nearest dollar. If you child buys a book for $6.53, the total cost will be $7.00. This will not only help your school to obtain much needed resources, but it will also help eliminate left over change from being lost or misplaced.
If you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at https://efairs.follettbookfairs.com/guest/home?classCode=97671
Our Online Fair is available from April 19th – May 7th.
We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school.
Sincerely,
Dawn Beal
Title I Parent Facilitator

This year we partnered with SchoolStore.com to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed. Family, friends, and co-workers had the opportunity to help the school in three ways:
Make a tax-deductible donation to their child's classroom by purchasing a CaringForClassrooms.org gift card.
Renew or purchase magazine subscriptions, DVD's, cookbooks, etc.
Shop online with merchants like Walmart, Kohl's, Best Buy, Disney, and more.
Through this program, our teachers and school have received a tremendous outpouring of support from the community! Widmyer has received $185 from various online purchases. The teachers have received an amazing $3298 in gift cards that they can use to purchase much need materials for their classrooms!!
Thank you to friends and family of Widmyer for your generosity!!

Happy National Assistant Principals Week! Thank you, Ginnie Molnar, for all you do for us at Widmyer Elementary School.
