Widmyer Elementary

Next Friday is Widmyer's annual Parade of Characters. We will be providing a goody bag for the students. We would like your help in giving the students the opportunity to trick or treat. To do this, we are asking parents to donate candy. Please send unopened bags with your child to school by this Friday. Thank you for your donations!

This coming week is our fall bookfair! There are lots of great books available for purchase for our kids. Students will have the opportunity to shop during the school day throughout the week. In an effort to reduce the amount of change that students have to handle, all prices will be rounded up to the nearest dollar. Also, the bookfair will be open to parents on Tuesday (10/19) and Thursday (10/21), 4-6 pm both evenings. This is a great opportunity to get a start on holiday or birthday shopping!

Congratulations to the Widmyer Wildcats for their outstanding door decorating participation. Each class has joined in the 'Cars' themed attendance rewards program and a class from each grade level has been chosen. Great job to Ms. Brown & Ms. Unger's Kindergarten class, Ms. Waugh's first grade, and Ms. Shives' second grade class!

Please join us in honoring the dedicated school service personnel who serve Morgan County Schools on this special day of recognition. We encourage you to take a moment to honor and appreciate the dedication and hard work of all West Virginia School Service Personnel by observing this special proclamation. Thank you for all you do!

As a reminder, tomorrow 9/23, will be Fall Picture Day. If your child is sick or under a doctor's care, please keep him or her home tomorrow. We will be scheduling a make-up day as well as a Spring date for pictures. We will attempt to include class photos during the Spring date as well.

School pictures are on Thursday. We will be taking individual and class pictures. Students will receive a proof and order form about two weeks after the photo shoot.

Due to the heavy rains forecasted for the afternoon, Morgan County Schools will be dismissing 2 hours early today. All after-school and evening activities are canceled.

Also the @stu.k12.wv.us email is the same email that was used to sign into Schoology last year if you were with us last year.  Your child's teacher should be sending this home if she has not done so already. The password is: Capital first initial of students first name then lowercase first letter of the last name followed by their ID number.  For example, mine would be Rb58000000. If you are doing this on your phone, I have heard that it helps to turn your phone sideways to sign in.  If you are having any troubles, please feel free to message me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Also, we will be available on Sept. 1, 3:30 pm-6:00 pm to offer support. Our computer lab will be available, along with assistance, to complete the AUP.

As a reminder, our Back to School nights start tomorrow. Kindergarten is tomorrow at 6:00 pm. Second grade and Widmyer Pre-K are Friday at 5:30 pm, and First grade is Friday at 7:00 pm. Here are a couple reminders for Back to School nights: Feel free to bring school supplies with you to the event. We ask that you limit the number of people who attend. We want to provide an opportunity for your child to see his or her classroom. To do that, we prefer that only one parent or guardian attend. Finally, due to the requirements of the Morgan County Health Department, masks are required for all people who come to Widmyer. Thank you for your cooperation.
