January Reminders!

Happy Holidays!
As the holiday season brings joy and togetherness, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to our incredible students, dedicated staff, and supportive families.

As a reminder, there is a two-hour early dismissal for students on Friday, December 20 for Faculty Senate. Additionally, there is no school for students from Monday, December 23 through Friday, January 3 for Winter Break.

Morgan County Schools Administration is aware of the recent arrest of Widmyer Elementary classroom teacher Jazmyn Rohrer. Specifically, on December 16, 2024, Rohrer was charged with three counts of child abuse by a person in a position of trust. While there is of course the presumption of innocence in our country, administration felt it to be in our school community’s best interest to inform our parents/guardians of the arrest. The arrest came as a result of the school system making a mandatory report of potential abuse to the appropriate state agencies following the review of a classroom incident captured on video.
Rohrer, as required by state law, was immediately removed from the classroom effective on December 10, 2024. Appropriate personnel action will be taken with regard to Rohrer, but please understand personnel laws at this time prevent administration from being specific as to what the next step is, as employees are entitled to due process. However, Rohrer is not in the classroom, and the West Virginia Department of Education has also been notified. The West Virginia Department of Education will also take appropriate steps, such as immediately suspending Rohrer’s teaching license.
Administration is hopeful that this notice will prevent the spread of any rumors and/or misinformation.
The school system will make no further comments given the pending criminal action.

Morgan County Schools are operating on a two-hour delay for students tomorrow, Monday, December 16. Employees follow Reporting Code D.

Morgan County Schools will transition to Non-Traditional Instructional/Remote Learning Days to continue learning from home starting with the 6th inclement weather day. Internet hotspots are available for students without internet access to complete their schoolwork. If you require an internet hotspot (for educational use only), please contact the main office of your child's school. These hotspots can support multiple students within the same household.

Berkeley Springs High School will be closed for students and staff today, Monday, December 9, due to a water leak in the parking lot. The water to the school will need to be turned off for an extended period of time for repairs. All other Morgan County Schools are operating on a normal schedule.

This is a reminder that Morgan County Schools offers free 24/7 online tutoring through Paper for all K-12 students. Students can easily access Paper from Classlink.

The Student Awards Program will take place tomorrow evening, December 3, 2024, during our school board meeting. Please be aware that our board meetings are livestreamed with both audio and video. If your child participates, they will appear on the livestream. This complies with West Virginia regulations, specifically W. Va. Code R. § 126-12-6, which requires the live streaming of local board meetings.

December Reminders!

Happy Thanksgiving!

At the November 12 Board Meeting, the Board approved a plan for how we will handle inclement weather days this school year:
The first 5 inclement weather days will be traditional snow days, meaning schools will be closed with no instruction.
Starting with the 6th inclement weather day, we will transition to Non-Traditional Instructional/Remote Learning Days to continue learning from home.
We hope this plan provides clarity and helps families prepare for the winter months ahead!
