Yesterday was an extraordinary day at Widmyer. We picked pumpkins and apples from Glascock's, we went on a hay ride with Dena & David Kerns, we had special fall stories, hay ride support and pumpkin distribution from our Football players & the FFA, Mr. Banks stopped by to join in the festivities, Tony M. Music happened by for a quick serenade, AND the very BEST parent volunteers a school could ask for spent the day with us!! Such fun outdoor learning, community support, peer modeling, family engagement, multi-school teamwork, the list goes on and on, and don't forget, your child's pumpkin will come home Wednesday, after they're given the opportunity to decorate it for their exemplary school behavior. Our Fall fun just keeps on growing!!

Another Bus Stuffed!! Our second annual 'Stuff A Bus' journey was even more successful than last year. This year we were able to OVER-stuff the bus with hygiene supplies and easy open snacks, raise over 2k in cash donations, and were graciously awarded a pallet of food and $1,050 towards more hygiene items from Food Lion. The volunteers, community support, and Food Lion partnership have been overwhelmingly successful, and we cannot thank you enough. Hope to see you all again next year!

Statement from Morgan County Schools and Local Law Enforcement: We consider the safety of our students and staff as our top priority. Along with all other State Superintendents, a conference call was completed late this morning with members of the West Virginia Department of Education and Homeland Security. During that meeting, a social media post with a list of high schools was shared with Superintendents. Neither Berkeley Springs High School or Paw Paw High School was listed on that social media post with 40+ high schools throughout the state of West Virginia. There have been NO specific threats received or reported to local law enforcement or Morgan County Schools. We will continue to monitor this situation and will continue to communicate with local law enforcement. If you see something on social media (including snapchat) do not re-share it, call 911. Again, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

Updated Statement from Morgan County Schools and Local Law Enforcement: Upon further investigation, law enforcement has concluded that the Morgan County student’s threat on social media (on 9/10/2024) has been deemed not credible. Our investigation concluded that the student had taken a screenshot of a threat posted by a student in a neighboring state. Unfortunately, there have been a series of social media threats throughout the region and country the past 2-3 days. Social media threats occur frequently and law enforcement is actively investigating each and every threat reported and providing us with ongoing updates. We take the safety of our students and staff as our top priority. There is no reason to believe that any school in our area is in danger and students should feel safe attending school tomorrow.

Important School Calendar Change! In light of the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8th, we've decided to reschedule the Faculty Senate early dismissal that was originally scheduled for April 19th to this date to coincide with this historic event. We believe that witnessing such a rare celestial occurrence can be an educational and memorable experience for our students. Due to the timing of the eclipse and by adjusting the early dismissal date, we aim to provide ample opportunity for everyone to safely observe and appreciate the solar eclipse together. Please mark your calendars accordingly! The new date for the Faculty Senate early dismissal is April 8th. April 19th will now be a full school day. We appreciate your understanding and support as we strive to create enriching experiences for our school community.
